Today i was reading this book Battlefield Of The Mind FOR TEENS by Joyce Meyer and i came across this chapter which was kind of relevant to me and i wish to share cos it really spoke to me and i know dat it'll speak to u guys too. :DThe State of Doubt and Unbelief
Doubt: The Dirt on Doubt
There are many versions of doubt explained in the many versions of dictionaries[or even bibles and books] but the ones provided[or the one the author found] is "to stand in two ways...implying uncertainty which way to take,.. being anxious, in a distracted state of mind, of wavering between hope and fear."
Sometimes God allows the Devil to declare war against us. And God plans to send you into the battlefield. But not unarmed.
Romans 12:3b "...but rather think of yourself with sober judgement, in accordance to the measure of faith God has given you."
He will put faith in our hearts. But the devil of cos wouldnt want you to stand up against him. So he decides to negate the faith given to us by attacking us with doubt. Therefore it's important for us to be familiar to God's Word and voice. So that we might have a sword and also the shield both to fite and defend- with God's Word and the faith in His Word.
Unbelief: Uncovering Unbelief
If doubt is belief tinged with second-thoughts and uncertainty then wad is unbelief? Simply put, it's a lack of faith or belief.
Remember the promise God gave Abraham? The one dat promised Abraham that he would be a father of many nations. How old was Abraham then? Close to a hundred? Don't forget the wife too. Both were equally as old. Yet, Abraham stood firm in the promise God gave him. Of cos, he did face the temptation of unbelief. But with the God-sent faith God blessed Abraham with, Abraham kicked the devil's bum and sent him sprawling back to hell.
The devil will throw lies at you at times. But all you have to do is to ask God for whatever you need in your fight against the evil one. But you have to believe cos with the faith the size of a mustard seed, you can... get the devil shaking at his knees. That's why the devil does everything to try to stop you from acting in faith.
Author's Sharing: "I wanted to teach God's Word. Next, I heard the Lord communicating something to me: "You will go all over the place and teach My Word, and you will have a large teaching-tape ministry."
If you had known me at the time, you would have agreed with me that there was no logical reason to believe this urging was really from God -or that I wouldbe up to the task. I had alot of problems. I did not appear to be "ministry material." But the Bible says that God can take what people might think is weak and foolish (1 Corinthians 1:27) and use it to confound even the wise. And He looks at our hearts, not our outward appearance (1 Samuel 16:7).
So, although there was nothing about the surface, "natural" Joyce Meyer to indicate I should believe God's vision for my life and the desire He planted in me, I relied on promises like those in 1 Corinthians and 1 Samuel, and I was filled with faith that I could do what the Lord wanted me to do. I resisted the temptation to disbelieve God's guidance. When God calls, He gives you the desire, faith, and ability to answer the call.
I responded to my call by investing years of study and training, waiting for the right moment to begin my minstry. And during this time, the devil regularly attacked me with both doubt and unbelief. God's vision for me was planted like a seed in my heart, just like you plant a seed in the garden. While the seed is germinating and growing beneath the surface, Satan works hard to get you to dig it up. He'll tell you it'll never grow or that if it does, it will become a puny and sickly plant that will embarrass you-so you might as well dig it up, or at least ignore it and not bother to nurture it and water it.
Conclusion: Read the part where Jesus walked on water with the disciples on board a ship in a stormy sea.
God has a great plan for your life (Jeremiah 29:11). Don't let the devil steal the peace and fufilment that God wants you to enjoy in your life. Kick the devil's ***!(the book used "you're gonna have to kick some tail")
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguements and every pretension that sets itself against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
God bless you
on your walk with Him! :D
