Adrian's Sharing from Psalms 1-6

Dear Boys & Uncles,

Next 150 days, Pst Khong's focus is on INTIMACY with God! That's by reading A PSALM A DAY!

And today he taught us to encourage INTERDEPENDENCY among God's people! So let's read the Psalms TOGETHER and share our insights!

Sharing helps us to learn from one another. We can read the same verse same psalm and yet interpret it differently! JoelL has started. Here's mine!

Psalm 1:2-3
"On his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers!"
I want to be that TREE!! But at times I'm lazy to meditate on his law! Haha, no pain no gain!

Psalm 2:4 and 8
"The One enthroned in heaven laughs/scoffs.."
This is one of the rare verses when God laughs/scoffs. I think God is telling me "Be wise, my rebellion and plotting against him is downright dumb!" Instead he is encouraging me to "ask of him and he will make the nations my inheritance!" So gracious and magnanimous is our God!=)

Psalm 3:2-8
"Many are saying of me, God will not deliver me!" This could be written by King David at his most despondent moment while perhaps in the midst of battle. Yet his faith in God is so great he DARE to "lie down and sleep; he wakes again (never die), because the Lord sustains him. He will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against him on every side..... From the Lord comes deliverance!" This inspires me to also rely on God to rescue me from my predicament!

Psalm 4:7
"You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound." Exactly what JoelL is experiencing now!! How I wish I can have that kind of joy which comes from God! For me I know my joy comes from the work of my hand. I know it because when my work is not smooth-sailing I lose that joy! You??

Psalm 5:3
"In the morning I lay my requests before you and WAIT IN EXPECTATION." Suddenly I was reminded that whenever I pray for something, I don't WAIT IN EXPECTATION that it will actually HAPPEN! O woe to Adrian for the little faith that he doesn't have!

Psalm 6:5
"No one remembers you when he is dead. Who praises you from the grave?"
When I first read this, my reaction was, Wah this King David so brave dare to threaten God as if saying "kill me lah, then there will be no one left to praise you!" But after some thinking, maybe it is King David pleading to God not to kill him otherwise there will be no one left to praise him. Haha.. What is your view?
